How many Sweets are Healthy?

Nutrition experts will tell you that sweets should make up no more than 5 percent of your total daily calorie intake. Therefore, if you are trying to maintain a certain weight, you should have not more than 1,200 calories a day.

If you are a healthy weight and are not trying to lose weight, an intake of sweets up to 300 calories a day is okay. But if you are overweight, an intake of sweets should not exceed 600 calories a day.

If you are not sure if you are eating enough sweets, or if you are overweight or underweight, talk to your doctor or a nutritionist.
