On Saturday, October 1st, 240sweet Executive Chef Alexa Lemley competed in the Bacon and Beer Classic at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. The Bacon and Beer Classic is a unique bacon and beer tasting festival, drawing sold-out crowds in over eight cities nationwide. Click here to visit website 


Over the course of the festival, 80+ regional breweries and 30+ restaurants served up their best craft brews and bacon-infused dishes. Chef Alexa created and served bacon enthusiasts an Oktoberfest version of her popular 240sweet “Happy Hour on a Stick” – a Samuel Adams Oktoberfest beer marshmallow coated with a brittle chocolate, Hormel bacon, pretzels and Ruffles potato chips.


An impressive panel of judges chose 240sweet as both Best Sweet Bacon Dish and Best Overall Bacon Dish for Oktoberfest Happy Hour on a Stick.

This is 240sweet’s 6th award at the Bacon and Beer Classics held across the USA. In Denver, Chef Alexa won Best Sweet Bacon Dish and Best Overall Bacon Dish. In New York, Chef Alexa won Best Sweet Dish. In Chicago, Chef Alexa won Best Sweet Bacon Dish and Best Overall Bacon Dish. In Indianapolis, she won People's Choice.

With the Denver win, Chef Alexa is guaranteed a spot in the Bacon Division of the World Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama in November 2016. The World Food Championships celebrates America’s signature decadence – Bacon.  The Bacon World Championship will pit 50 of the world’s best culinary craftsmen against each other for the title of Bacon World Champion. Home cooks, restaurateurs and chefs will all compete to see whose cuisine reigns supreme.
